History
Beginning in January of 2012, the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library (CHPL) and the University of Cincinnati Libraries (UCL) began a long-term collaboration to provide preservation services in an equally-managed, staffed, and equipped book and paper lab situated on the University of Cincinnati’s uptown campus.
The Preservation Lab provides the full suite of preservation services to our parent institutions including general circulating materials repair, single item conservation treatment, digitization prep, conservation photography (photographic documentation), environmental monitoring, integrated pest management, exhibit prep, storage and handling consultation, education and outreach, and emergency planning. Additionally, both libraries engage in mutual aid during disaster recovery.
